Vision Skateboards

Mobile Applciation / Process + Wires + Design / Research

The Vision Skateboards mobile app was designed to celebrate the brand’s history, artwork, and iconic collections. The goal was to create an immersive browsing experience that allows users to explore the brand’s classic decks, artist collaborations, and cultural impact through a clean, gallery-style interface.

Role • UX/UI Designer

Focus Areas: Wireframes • Navigation Flows • Visual Hierarchy • Content Strategy

Problem

Vision Skateboards sought to showcase its legacy and heritage, while also featuring both new and classic collections. Showcasing high-resolution skateboard artwork without clutter, providing quick navigation between collections and individual decks, and balancing historical storytelling with a modern browsing experience..

Goals

Create a gallery-first interface that highlights skateboard artwork and artist contributions, making navigation of collections and models fast and intuitive. Present historical details in a structured, digestible way without overwhelming the visuals.

Process & Approach

Developed low-fidelity wireframes to define the visual hierarchy and navigation flow. Designed a card-based interface focused on large deck visuals and quick model identifiers that simplified horizontal navigation between models within each collection, and Balanced imagery with minimal copy to let the artwork lead the experience.

Interaction Flows

Created task-driven flows for core user journeys to allow the user to Browse Collections and navigate through Vision’s classic and modern decks. Explore Details and Access artwork, dimensions, and historical information for each model. Artist Highlights, showcasing the work of Andy Takakjian, the Los Angeles artist behind Vision’s early graphics and storytelling, seamlessly integrates Vision’s brand history without interrupting the browsing experience.

Visual Exploration

Prototyped multiple variations to find the right balance of form and function to allow Minimalist Content Strategy that Reduced textual noise to keep the focus on artwork. I added a Numbered Model Navigation that uses bold identifiers (“01,” “02,” “03”) for quick scanning.
