Harman International

Designed and engineered connected experiences across multiple OEM programs, including John Deere, Harley-Davidson, and Subaru, within the Android Automotive (AAOS) ecosystem.

Role • Principal UX/UI Designer

Focus Areas: Wireframes • Navigation Flows • Visual Hierarchy • Content Strategy • Engineering • Development handoff

Problem

Each brand required unique user needs, but the platform demanded shared logic, scalability, and strict compliance across devices and regions, utilizing a cohesive design system process that aligned with each brand.

Goals

As a team, our goal was to create a unified design framework that is adaptable to different OEM identities while maintaining system integrity and usability throughout multiple domains, inlcuding AGL and Unity.

Process & Approach

I collaborated with engineers and product management to define and refine complex tasks, including Device Manager, User Profiles, and Widget Editors. Built flows and components directly tied to AAOS standards and developer requirements.

Interaction Flows

Inconsistent logic between OEM variants and overlapping dependencies created implementation issues, which were resolved through modular hierarchy, improved naming structures, and unified interaction patterns.

Visual Exploration

The attempt, as always, is to achieve a balanced brand expression with platform consistency, neutral baselines, flexible grids, and scalable icon systems tailored for each vehicle context.
